As promised, a review on that hotel we stayed in.
We were looking for places to stay in too late for other hotels were fully booked. Transient houses also had full rooms at this time of year therefore we were really desperate. When we found Villa La Maja and they informed us that they have open rooms for us we took it. It is only after reserving that we looked and researched more of the said hotel. The reviews returned as hilarious, to me, as they state that the place feels haunted and to avoid it because of that. Skeptic that I am I really laughed at it and urged we push through. The hotel was not hard to find as it was close to Camp John Hay. A map is included in their website which helped us find our way.
Upon arriving at the place we doubted that it was it. It looked really old and most likely to scare some people away from the outside.
At first glance of the outside, I might have hated the place. It really looked eerie before you get inside.
Once you get to the lobby, everything seems normal.
Furnished and well maintained.
Actually, they even have Nintendo Wii to play on the big screen.
However, once you get to their rooms and their corridors, you might feel that same spine chill crawl up. The rooms are ancient and most are hard to get too. It is not recommended that you go to this place when with anyone who has disability.
The decorations on the wall might seem alright...
or seem too old.
I don't know what that door is for but let me tell you, they have too much mirrors.
See what I mean.
The displays are of mix cultures from a buddah statue...
to these gargoyles, lions and sarimanok atop the fireplace.
The rooms are really old and they placed headboard on beds simply to show they can. Those headboards aren't even attached to the bed itself. I have not taken pictures of the room because I was too tired. There really is nothing to see too. They had no electric sockets in the room except for two that are located behind the TV, not really homey in my opinion. Their website advertises hot and cold bath but we experienced a cold shower unless you open the faucet and take water from there. We are never going back to that place.
Also, we asked to be move from one room to another because of how unmaintained we saw the place as.
You are free to still check their Villa La Maja to inquire and reserve rooms after reading this, but if I were you, I won't.
